What is Divorce Mediation?

Divorce Mediation is an informal, voluntary process where a neutral mediator assists the parties in reaching a mutual agreement with respect to property division, custody, visitation and other issues.
A mediator does not actually make decisions, but instead attempts to bring the couple together in a cooperative way; this allows the parties to create an agreement acceptable to both.
A divorce can be one of the most difficult experiences in our lives. Divorce mediation can provide a more cooperative process during this difficult time.
Is Divorce Mediation Right for You?

Mediation usually provides the following benefits over traditional litigation:
- Less costly;
- Faster or greater control over timing of divorce;
- Greater control over the outcome;
- More comfortable and informal setting;
- Creative problem solving; and
- Private and confidential.
Perhaps the most important reason for a couple to choose mediation is the ability to obtain a mutually satisfactory resolution.
